Question: All of these Lost promos are getting me super pumped for January! Any more news on casting or plot twists to get me even more excited? -- Sam

Ausiello: How about a scoop that's equal parts casting news and plot twisty? Per my Lost mole, we're going to meet Jack's grandfather for the first time in episode 7! He'll be played by actor Raymond Barry, who's probably best known for his role as Tom Cruise's dad in Born on the Fourth of July.

Question: Can you give us any hints on the Heroes return you teased in last week's Ask Ausiello? -- Sasha

Ausiello: Sure. The answer is contained somewhere within my exclusive Bryan Fuller Q&A. Happy hunting!

Question: A bunch of us House fans are debating whose bathroom House is in when he takes a bath in the Jan. 19 episode. Based on the promo Fox aired at the end of last week's episode, I think it Cuddy's bathroom. Others, however, think it's either Wilson's or House's. Who's right? -- Erin

Ausiello: The "Others" win! The bathroom is most definitely House's. In related news, I worry about you and your friends, Erin.

Question: Will Cuddy's happiness with the baby last, or is there more heartbreak looming? -- Naomi

Ausiello: Things will get worse before they get better. Let's just say Cuddy's maternal instincts don't kick in immediately, and it freaks her out a little.

Question: What can you tell me about the upcoming Smallville episode, "Hex"? I hear that by some magic spell Chloe turns into Lois, which has further inflamed the rivalry between Chloe fans and Lois fans. -- Trisha

Ausiello: Well, if that inflamed it, then this little spoiler is going to, um, er,… drive it one notch above inflamed. In one scene from the ep, Clark stares lovingly into Chloe's eyes, but only because he thinks it's Lois. It's at that moment that Chloe learns how hard Clark has fallen for Lois. Um, awkward!

LOST: Meet Jack's Grandpa!

According to EW's Ausiello we will meet Jack's grandfather for the first time in Episode 5x07 titled"316" and he will be played by actor Raymond J. Barry.

SPOILERS!

The John Scott character on Fringe is such a joyful enigma; maybe one of you can convince the producers to bring him back from the dead? — Susan

MICKEY: [Peeking out from behind a giant Chinese fan] You know who else is a joyful enigma, Susan? Me! When I asked my friends o' Fringe about John Scott's possible reanimation, there were rumblings and whispers and gasps before they told me that John's state of being will be a crucial topic of discussion come January. So far, Olivia has enjoyed only the benefits of her mind-meld with her dastardly former lover, but there are also drawbacks.

In case SAG members vote to strike, I need to know how many episodes Lost will have "in the can." I'm not sure I can take another abbreviated season — Eric

MATT: In some remarkable reality where George Clooney's trade-ad bitch-slap to the strike movement doesn't have the intended effect and the January vote does deliver a walk-out, Lost will have filmed at least 11 of this season's 17 episodes. (Note to Mickey and Tim: If the strike happens, you can reach me in the Bahamas.)

I know Leverage is a new show, but I'm already hooked and would love some scoop! — Candy

TIM: You're in for a treat, Candy. (Sorry — you must get that a lot.) "The Miracle Job," airing Dec. 23, offers big insights into the main characters' back stories. Case in point: The beating of a priest prompts a discussion of faith — a concept in which Nathan Ford (Timothy Hutton) proves to be surprisingly well-versed. We also learn more about the past captivity of Christian Kane's Eliot.

I'm dying to know what happens to Smallville's Chloe (Allison Mack) in the wake of Doomsday kidnapping her at her wedding! — Ms. C

MATT: I just got off the horn with Sam Witwer (aka Davis/Doomy), and he says the Jan. 15 episode picks up more or less with "the absolute aftermath" of that wedding-smashing. How will Chloe bounce back from her abduction by the abomination? "That's a good question," Witwer hedges. "Chloe has an alter ego [aka Brainiac] as well, and that plays into how she's going to progress as a character." As for critically injured Jimmy, his assailant's portrayer kindly offers, "I'm hoping the guy pulls through."

Any word yet on whether this really is the final season of Supernatural? Or will the CW come to its senses? — Erin

MATT: It's a bit early to forecast the Winchesters' future, but ask yourself this: If I'm a network that can't even program Sunday night, would I elect to enter the fall of 2009 without one of my strongest (oh, and prettiest) shows?

Can you tell me if NBC has set a premiere date for Merlin? I'm hearing good things about it from friends in the U.K. — Rhonda

TIM: So are we. NBC hasn't reserved a date yet for the British hit, which is based on the early years of King Arthur and the world's most famous wizard not named Harry, but it likely will bow by summer 2009. Notable for its color-blind casting, John Hurt's role as a dragon, and newcomers Colin Morgan and Bradley James (as Merlin and Prince Arthur), the series just conjured up a Season 2 commitment from the BBC. Watch your back, Potter.

True Blood Season Two Casting Scoop!

True Blood has just cast its first new roles for season 2, and both picks are bloody fantastic!First up, Broadway babe Anna Camp -- she's currently horsing around with Daniel Radcliffe in Equus — has been tapped to play the series-regular role of Sarah, the hot-to-trot wife of Steve Newlin (aka the Fellowship of the Sun's big kahuna).
And The Bold and the Beautiful's stellar Ashley Jones has booked a six-episode arc as Daphne, a new Merlotte's waitress -- and I hope, I hope a new love interest for poor Sam. (P.S. soap fans, no, she won't be hanging up Doc Bridget's well-worn stethoscope; the two-time Daytime Emmy nominee will juggle blood transfusions and blood-suckers.)

Prison Break Sneak Peek!

Smallville Interview!

With Kristen Kreuk!

Will you be popping up on Smallville anymore this season?
I will. I have four more episodes that will air starting January 15th.

Anything you can share with us?
Lana is coming back after being away for a long time. The audience gets to find out what happened to her, what occurred during that time period. She’s very different when she comes back. Then she gets a beautiful send-off. She’s been a victim for so long, so she gets a beautiful send-off as a hero that her fans will really, really like.

Is this the last season of Smallville?
I don’t know. It depends on whatever goes on between Tom Welling and the powers that be. If there is another season, I won’t be there – that is all I know!

Heroes Previews!

Terminator Preview!

SPOILERS!

Dec in Norman, Okla.: I am so sick of all the mushy stuff on House. Please tell me the character hookups take a back seat to the diagnoses in the new year. I can't handle it anymore.
Mmmm...sorry, can't make any promises like that. Just talked to executive producer Katie Jacobs and she told me, "Our weekly medical mysteries are the meat and potatoes—and I say that because I love meat and potatoes—but it's fun to break those conventions and get a little more personal." So can I offer you a nice, well-balanced meal with meat and potatoes and candy-coated Cuddy on the side?
Jason in Arab, Ala.: You haven't talked much about Terminator lately. Any news? What's up with Riley and Derek's girlfriend Jesse?
I've seen tonight's episode, and the final image is a doozy, but only as far as the myth arc is concerned. The part of the episode that will really turn you inside out is Riley's downward spiral. The girl is totally losing it, and unsympathetic Jesse—who we learn was the one who first plucked Riley out of apocalyptic obscurity in the future because she had a "pretty face"—does absolutely nothing to put the brakes on R's breakdown. John Connor may be her only hope...
Delilah in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada: Anything new on Supernatural?
I'm hearing of an amazing episode in the new year about reapers in a small town who are getting killed, so Sam and Dean become ghosts to travel in the ghost world and figure out what's going on. As long as they don't put white sheets over my pretty boys' faces, I'm in!
Janice in Miami: More Supernatural!
In honor of the show currently kicking ass in our CW Awards, I will tell you that a character we know and love dies in the aforementioned reaper episode. Guesses?

Lauren in Cleveland: Have you forgotten that both Monk and Psych premiere on Jan. 9? Speaking of Psych; any hope for Shawn and Juliet?
As if I could forget. (Check back closer to the Monk premiere date for my recent convos with the cast—including talk of a Sarah Silverman return!) Anyway, speaking of Psych...in the upcoming batch of episodes, a blonde who is close to Shawn is kidnapped, and only Shawn's skills of deduction can save the day.
Quincy in New York: Anything coming up on Heroes? Especially regarding Sylar?
Looks like Sylar has his own form of kryptonite! If you want to turn off his powers, apparently all you need is a shard of glass placed just so. That will happen in a future ep, and it will leave our by Sylie-poo powerless.

Amber in Jacksonville, Fla.: I've watched the first two episodes of Leverage on TNT and love it! Please give us some scoop. Pretty, pretty please? Thanks!
Things get a little personal this week when people from Nate (Timothy Hutton), Sophie (Gina Bellman) and Eliot's (Christian Kane) pasts appear. This will cause a few close calls when they try to get revenge on Samantha Who?'s Rick Hoffman, who guest stars this week as a horse owner who doesn't mind a little insurance fraud.

Heroes Scoop!

WHAT'S TO COME:

Sylar's Not Dead: Yes, Sylar's healing power was deactivated, and yes he was in the exploding building when Meredith went kablooey, but no, he ain't dead. He'll emerge from the rubble and set off on a quest to find his powers. And Angela told the truth (believe it or not) when she said he was decidedly not the product of a humble watchmaker and a woman who collected snow globes.

That Death Reset: The death reset I've been promising was not Elle. The death I'm referring to has not happened yet, and after this episode I'm more glad than ever that the writers are giving the character a second chance—because she rocks.

Hiro on Hold: Even though Arthur took his native abilities, Peter can now fly, thanks to a timely injection of the formula. Hiro's powers, however, will remain offline for the time being. Good news for the anti-time-travel faction of the fandom!

Dollhouse Scoop!

Dollhouse's Dushku Reveals Roles

Eliza Dushku revealed a few of the personas her character will take on in Fox's upcoming SF drama Dollhouse, including one in which she'll do a bit of singing. "I had to sing a few episodes ago, yeah," Dushku said on the red carpet for the Video Game Awards on Dec. 14.

"And I had to lay down a track, so we'll see how it turns out [laughs]. We'll see if a musical is a good idea after that episode airs." The last time I spoke to Dushku, she said that she'd love to be in a Joss Whedon musical, a la Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. In her Dollhouse ep, she said she sang "a cappella." "I was auditioning to be a backup singer for a big pop star in one episode," she said. "So it was like a gospel song I did." Dushku's character, Echo, is a person whose mind is wiped and programmed with different personas by a top-secret underground agency, which then sends her on various missions.

Dushku said her favorite persona so far was a killer. "I like the assassin chick that I just did," she said. "She has a lot of layers. Hyper-intelligent, and I also got to beat up a big 6-foot, 5-inch stunt guy."

What was the hardest? "A serious, professional woman with an up-do," Dushku said. "That's hard for me. Joss is like, 'I know you by now. Your comfort zone lies in your hair. I can throw you off a building or hit you with a car or make you fight seven guys, but you get uncomfortable if I put your hair in an up-do.' That's kind of insane and kind of hilarious."

Bones Scoop!

"Long time Bones fans know that Cam was a police officer prior to assuming her position at the Jeffersonian, but we're about to learn a great deal more about Dr. Saroyan's previous life and how it shaped who she is today. For starters, Angela ain't the only one with an ex-fiance to speak of. Seems our favorite coroner was once engaged to marry a single dad whose daughter she was very close with. When the ex-fiance is murdered in an upcoming episode, Cam will offer the teenage orphan a new home with her."

Stargate Universe Casting Scoop!

Not unlike a certain battery-operated bunny, the Stargate franchise keeps going and going and going…To wit: Scottish thesp Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty) has been tapped to headline the brand's third live-action series, Stargate Universe.

Carlyle, most recently seen in Fox's 24: Redemption pic, will play Dr. David Rush, the leader of a group of soldiers, scientists, and civilians who have been stranded on an ancient ship in the far reaches of space."We are very excited about having an actor of this caliber, around which we can build a strong, character-based series," said series creators Brad Wright and Robert Cooper in an exclusive statement. "Robert Carlyle will engage a broad audience and we hope to deliver a show that demonstrates to new viewers that the loyalty of longtime fans of the Stargate franchise has been well-deserved."

SGU, which will launch via a two-hour movie on Sci Fi next July, is being billed as the edgy, rebellious sibling to Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Or as Wright/Cooper put it: "We see SGU as an innovative step forward and an opportunity to expand the franchise."Is the casting of Carlyle a step in the right direction? Sound off below, Gatethrashers (or whatever it is you people call yourselves)!
