Actors Strike Update!

"At midnight tonight, the current contracts under which the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA have been working expire, and thus far only the latter union has approved (at least on its merits) a new deal. Is SAG set to walk? Guild president Alan Rosenberg maintains, "We have taken no steps to initiate a strike authorization vote by [our] members. Any talk about a strike or a management lockout is simply a distraction."

Come July 7, AFTRA could formally ratify their new contract — thus putting extra pressure on SAG to accept similar terms. Some SAG heavyweights, though, have been urging their sister union to dismiss the new deal, so that better terms (as relating to DVD residuals and such) could be negotiated for both parties.AFTRA's new deal, however, is based on a model hammered out in recent months by the Writers Guild and Directors Guild, raising questions about the ripple effects that could be felt were the "standardized" new-media tenets to be called into question."

Battlestar Movie Scoop!

"The L.A. Times is reporting that a Battlestar Galactica TV movie has been green-lit!There have been rumblings in the blogosphere about such a movie -– or movies -- for about a month now. (The Chicago Tribune's TV blog, The Watcher, reported that as many of three were in the works.)

But the Times confirmed the green light via an interview with cast member Grace Park, who plays Cylon No. 8 (aka Sharon/Athena) on the Sci Fi series.Park was unable to dish any juicy details about the movie's story or which actors from the series might be signing on, telling the Times that "nobody's manager or agent has been called. It's supposed to start in August." But she did mention that the cast's wrap party was on Saturday, so you have to think that some more definitive announcement will be forthcoming very soon.

We -– and our army of robot reporters -- will keep you posted. In the meantime, who would you like to see in the new BSG movie? Of course I loves me some Kara Thrace, but my vote goes to the Quorum. All they ever say is "harrumph harrumph harrumph" every time Prez Ros says anything like it's an old-tymey Colonial courthouse. Those people are in dire need of a backstory. –- Mickey O'Connor @ TV Guide

Bones Scoop!

"Bones creator Hart Hanson has revealed how the hit forensic show's season four premiere came to film in London.Speaking at a press conference last week, Hanson explained that network Fox was looking to air two-hour season premiere specials for shows in its Autumn line-up.

He said: "We worked out a story that seemed to work only in England. Once the network saw the outline they got on board. I'm shocked because the exchange rate is brutal here for us!"The premiere, which has filmed in locations at Wrotham Park, Greenwich, Canary Wharf and the Guildhall, will see Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) attempt to solve the murder of an American girl.

Hanson explained: "It has a slight Upstairs, Downstairs aspect to it, with servants and royalty and the class system. An heiress with an American father is yanked from the Thames in her Range Rover."Brennan and Booth are here lecturing. Booth is lecturing at Scotland Yard and Brennan is lecturing at Oxford about working with cops. The murder happens... the FBI would have jurisdiction over it if Scotland Yard invited them."

* No mention or appearance of Jane (the woman who worked with Aldo) yet this season.

* The relationships with Mahone will be interesting. “There will be times when there might be some conflict but Michael and Mahone have an understanding and a hesitant respect of each other and what the other can do. Lincoln and Mahone will be more interesting but they may even find something to bring them closer together.”

* As for Westmoreland’s money - it was kicked into the water by Kim and retrieved by the Panamanian Government. The money was dispersed through the police and soldiers, so no more money for the boys!

"24" Scoop!

Here:

Heroes Scoop!

"Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of NBC's Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming third season will take the show and its characters in entirely new directions--including deep into the backstory."One of the things that this volume is going to do that, I think, is really going to be fun for the audience is that there were very initial sort of primal questions that the show asked," Kring said in an interview at the Saturn Awards in Universal City, Calif., on June 24, where he accepted an award for best television DVD.

"Who am I? What's happening to me? How am I connected? Where are these powers coming from? All of those questions get reframed and turned on their head in a very interesting way in this volume."As with the previous two seasons, the third will be divided up into volumes. The first is titled "Villains" and will focus on the nature of good and evil, Kring said.

"You're going to see a lot of bad guys in this one," Kring said. "The idea, also, is we're playing off the idea of our characters as heroes or villains. So it's really the duality of good and evil. ... We're playing off of this duality of good and evil. All of our characters were given these powers and possess these powers, and at some point it becomes sort of free will and human nature as to what you're going to do with that. And all of us are given the choice to make decisions that lead us down very dark paths or towards heroic ends. And so, literally, every one of our characters gets faced with that dilemma."

Kring also said that the popular villain Sylar (Zachary Quinto) will continue to be an integral part of the show in the third season. Quinto had originally been written out of the last half of the second season due to his shooting schedule on the upcoming Star Trek film. But because of the writers' strike, that part of the story was pushed into the third season, and Sylar was written back in."Well, we have no plans of saying goodbye to Sylar right now," Kring assured fans. "I mean, that was yet another silver lining for the strike, was Zach Quinto's availability to us in the third volume. I mean, that was a huge thing for us to be able to have him back. As you guys know, he would have disappeared for a large chunk of the second half of season two. And so, for us, it was a big, big deal."

Bones Casting Scoop!

"He's heeere...Inside sources tell me that the producers of Fox's Bones have cast an actor to play Angela's long-lost husband. Click in to find out which guy got the extremely great gig of canoodling with Michaela Conlin on a regular basis.I'm told that Sean Blakemore (you can IMDb him here) will be playing Grayson Birimbau, the superperfect über-mensch (kind and brilliant, and hot and rich to boot) who met Angela one hot night in Fiji and persuaded her to become his wife (even if just for that one hot night).

Way back in April, Bones creator Hart Hanson told WWK, "We're gonna find the best guy in the world for Angela. Whoever we finally cast, Jack has to be completely and utterly cowed when this guy finally walks in."And at the Asian Excellence Awards the lovely Ms. Michaela herself told E! that the producers were looking at Djimon Hounsou as the prototypical Birimbau. (I guess Kimora Lee was keepin' him busy living life in her Fab Lane on E!)

What do you think? Did they hit close to the Djimon Hounsou mark? And more importantly, what will the introduction of Birimbau mean for Angela's love affair with Dr. Jack Hodgins (T.J. Thyne)? Are they ever going to be able to disentangle this mess and tie the knot themselves?"

Agents Sarah Walker (Strahovski) and John Casey (series star Adam Baldwin, "Serenity") are assigned to protect him. From College Hill Pictures, Wonderland Sound and Vision in association with Warner Bros. Latest from TV Guide:

Could you please give the world some scoop on Kyle XY? I heard it is not returning until January 2009, and it's only 12 episodes! – Kyle
Mitovich: The "January 2009" part is correct. Alas, only 10 episodes are on the books right now (though I am hearing that run could be extended). FYI, Season 3 will pick up right at the prom.

Dude, it's been ages since we've had any Prison Break scoop! What gives? – Adie
Mitovich: Ages?! You've gotten Cress Williams, Michael Rapaport, a yet-to-be-cast computer wonk.... Oh wait, the computer wonk has been cast — with James Hiroyuki Liao.

What are my chances of getting some Stargate Atlantis scoop? — Linda
Mitovich: Very good, they are! (Oops, I Yoda'd there for a second.) For one, that rumor about the 100th outing being set in Earthly Las Vegas has some teeth to it. "We've yet to break the episode," says exec producer Joseph Mallozzi. "[But] in our initial spinning, we have discussed the possibility of having the best of both worlds — or galaxies, as the case may be." That's just one of more than 20 TVGuide.com reader questions Mallozzi answered for me the other day. Watch for the rest as Premiere Night nears.

Latest from Kristen @ E!Online:

Paul in Philadelphia: We needs us some resolution regarding Kristen Bell and season three of Heroes. Will she be a regular or not?

I'd say you needs you some grammars, but I know yous just being cutes. (Hee.) According to sources, Kristen Bell will not be a regular this season on Heroes, but she will appear in a recurring fashion, most likely for five more episodes. (Better than nada, no?) The only new regular is Cristine Rose as Mama Petrelli, who has a lot to do this season. Oh! And I just met up with Brea Grant, the new villain Speedster (otherwise known as Landry's dread-headed cutie on Friday Night Lights) and she's all kinds of awesome—and coming to our next Watch With Kristin Show, so stay tuned.

Miss Kitty: We've heard rumors about Heroes showing at least one hour of the premiere at San Diego Comic-Con. If the panel is only an hour long, then is that ruling it out?

Thanks for any info you can dig up.I'm told there will just be a Heroes sneak peek, not the full premiere.

Shene in Chantilly, Va.: Will House ever have a romantic scene? Because it seems like if he got a little real love, things could turn good for him.

I would argue that he's had plenty of romantic scenes, and I don't think I'm the only one who would argue that, so I am opening up the floor for House-related romantic arguing. In the tradition of our Smallville and Lost love debates, if you're a fan of House with either Cuddy, Cameron, Thirteen or Wilson, send in your 500-words-or-less essays in favor of the couple of your choice to mailto:tvdiva@eonline.com?subject=House by July 7. (I know House will always love Wilson no matter what lady he hooks up with, but pretend it's like Highlander and there can be only one.) We'll post the best arguments from each side in an upcoming item!

Randall in Santa Fe, N.M.: Jack Coleman is a god. He's back next season on Heroes, right?

Of course! And what's totally amazing is that my wish of Zachary Quinto and Jack Coleman sharing loads of screen time is coming true. I'm hearing that Sylar is going to start working with H.R.G. I know. Whaaa? (They might beat out Sayid and Ben as TV's least expected odd couple!)

Louisa in Dallas: I'm dying without Supernatural!

Well, rise from your deathbed, sweetie, and come back to the world of the living, just like Dean and Lazarus! The title of Supernatural's season-four premiere is "Lazarus Rising," and according to my bible, Lazarus is that guy Jesus raised from the dead. Methinks this one's about Dean coming back from hell. Yay!

Keith in Delaware: Is Smallville going to suck without Michael Rosenbaum this season? I know the answer, I think, but am hoping there is some kind of salvation.

Actually, I'm hearing some very cool things about the new season. The writers are going into more of the Metropolis/Lois-and-Clark storyline and moving away from Smallville. Clark is going to work at the Daily Planet, and with Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) coming back, you can bet your sweet booty that more members of the Justice League will be popping up again. Sounds good, yes? No? Comment below...

Alois in France: My favorite show, Stargate: Atlantis, is back next month! Do you have scoop?

I do, thanks to our new supersecret and rock solid SGA source (ahem, Jen's little brother Mark, who's seen the premiere). According to little bro: "It wasn't quite as awesome as last season's finale, but it was still a very good episode." He also reports: (a) Col. Carter (Amanda Tapping) from SG-1 is a great addition to Atlantis but at the end of the episode they reveal that they are replacing her with Woolsey (Robert Picardo); (b) McKay (David Hewlett) helping Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) give birth is pretty intense scene; and (c) Michael (Connor Trinneer), the current villain, is defeated but it is clear he had a chance to escape on an enemy-captured Puddle Jumper. He could try to infiltrate Atlantis with its cloak and the technology of the Ancients on board. Thanks, JenBro!

Supernatural Casting Upset!

Supernatural Deal!

"Supernatural creator/executive producer Eric Kripke has signed a two-year exclusive deal with Warner Brothers TV, Variety reported. Under terms of the pact, Kripke will continue to executive-produce and run The CW's Thursday staple Supernatural, which enters its fourth season this fall. Kripke also will start to develop projects under the deal. There's no word if one of the new titles might be a Supernatural spinoff; Kripke has said in the past that he's interested in doing a prequel of sorts that takes place in the Old West and centers on the show's mythology. Kripke's at work crafting the show's fourth season, following up on the season-three cliffhanger that sent Dean (Jensen Ackles) to hell. "

More "24" Scoop!

Smallville Casting News!

"If I've been reading (and re-reading, and re-re-reading...) my sons' D.C. Comics Encyclopedia correctly every night at bedtime, this should be one very neat trick. With Lex Luthor quietly exiting stage right, no less than Doomsday is coming to Smallville.

Though the CW's official announcement dare not actually utter the big guy's alias, Sam Witwer — whom Battlestar Galactica fans may remember as Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo — will fill the role of Davis Bloome.Doomsday, of course, is the baddie who according to canon one day will kill Superman. On Smallville, though, he'll start out as just a charismatic paramedic... though one with a deep-seeded dark side. (No, I didn't say Darkseid.)In addition, lest Lex's affairs go untended in his absence, nubile newcomer Cassidy Freeman is also joining the 'Ville as Tess Mercer. Her name an obvious nod to "Miss Tessmacher!", this spunky gal is the acting CEO of Luthorcorp — and she boasts a cunning ruthlessness to match her mentor's." — Matt Mitovich

LOST Season Five Rumor!

"Hey guys, let's not waste any time and get started shall we =]. My sources have told me ABC has contacted Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) to negotiate a full season contract. Nestor has made several guest appearances in episodes with the most recent being in the Season 4 Finale "There's No Place Like Home." Nestor Carbonell's character Richard Alpert, is said to be playing a larger role in the upcoming season which will require him to shoot more episodes. Hopefully he will be able to strike a long-term deal so he can stay where he belongs instead of some show on another network *cough* NBC *cough* and be ran into the ground."

Bones Casting Scoop!

"Remember that rotation of grad students I told you would be taking turns filling Zack's position as a Bones squint? One of them has been cast, and he's very familiar to fans of The Practice. Michael Badalucco, who played blue-collar Jimmy on the ABC legal drama, is booked for at least one episode, and will first appear a few weeks into Season 4. Yes, he's playing a grad student, but one who has "lived some years" — akin to Grey's Anatomy's World's Oldest Intern, only not that long in the tooth. In the same episode, look for a visit from Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, playing... himself.
