WARNING: Spoilers!!!
Ok so one week left till True Blood Season Two premieres! Woo hoo! Can't wait......So I thought we could go through what actually transpires in the second Sookie Stackhouse book "Living Dead in Dallas" on which the second season of True Blood will be based on.
The first event that happens in the book and that we can assume remains consistent from what we saw at the end of last season, is Lafayette's death. And yeah, it sucks because the actor who potrayed him and the writers who wrote for him really made him a fascinating character.
Now in the book, Sookie does track down the killer but this is basically a lesser storyline overall. Towards the end of the book, Sookie and Eric together head to an orgy to uncover the killer to which Eric wears spandex. No, really. Anyways, in the book, the Maenad (who is the tv character of Maryann) ends up getting the satisfaction of the kill and ultimately avenging Lafayette.
Now the Maenad/Maryann is also a storyline herself in the book, as she attacks Sookie as a 'message' to Eric and then Sookie has a rather odd encounter of being healed by Eric & company, including a very small doctor. Anyways, afterwards Sookie is sent to Dallas by Eric to help locate a missing vampire.
Most of the story then takes place in Dallas as opposed to Bon Temps and regards the cult "The Fellowship of the Sun", which we saw as a newly formed Jason-storyline upcoming on the show as that was not part of his thing during the books. I'm glad that Tara and Jason are getting such front running storylines as both the actors who portray them really do an awesome job.
Anyways, overall in the whole of the Sookie Stackhouse books, this book is not one of my favorites but it does have building blocks for future storylines. I look forward to see what else Alan Ball comes up with to add to the fascinating world of Sookie and friends.
Can't wait for next week!!

In another post on this site, someone said that Alan Ball has said that the Sookie plotline will remain basically the same while other characters storylines will be the ones most changed or created.
This makes me happy cuz I think they will keep the Eric/Sookie storyline then, seeing as almost the entirety of everything would have to be changed if they didnt! Go Eric/Sookie!
I agree that this is not the best book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries, in fact it is my least favorite, it felt very detached, more so then the other books in which Sookie travels. I'm hoping that the show *might* be able to improve on that? Hmmmm...
Seriously though, I'm excited most about season three, "Club Dead" was my favorite.
Really? Are you a fan of Alcide?
