Episode 3x11 "The Enemy of My Enemy"
Unlikely allies Robin and Gisborne gallop side by side in Sherwood Forest, in tonight's penultimate episode in the current series of Robin Hood, but, before long, they are at each other's throats. Allan spots them fighting and, thinking that Robin is in mortal danger, quickly summons the others.
The gang breaks up the tussle and reels in disbelief as Robin explains his and Gisborne's kinship and their promise to their dying father that they will rescue their half-brother, Archer, from his death sentence at York.
Robin tells the incredulous outlaws that Gisborne is one of them. Gisborne, meanwhile, tries to bring them around to the idea that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". They may never trust him, but they must unite to defeat the new Sheriff Of Nottingham – Gisborne's ferocious sister, Isabella.
Robin and Gisborne head for York at breakneck speed. They've heard that Archer has brought an arsenal of innovative weapons from the Orient which, if found, could help bring down Prince John. But Isabella is on their trail and has put a price on their heads of 100 crowns each, if they're taken alive. Can they keep evading her henchmen?
Meanwhile, Archer, their handsome and ever-resourceful half-brother, is playing fast and loose with the Sheriff Of York's wife, Gweneth. Archer is soon taken before her husband, trying to talk his way out of trouble with claims that, not only does he have weapons from the Orient, but he also knows all about the esoteric science of alchemy, which can lead to untold wealth and power.
If Archer's considerable persuasive and swashbuckling skills aren't enough to win his freedom, will his brothers be in time to save him?

It is totally beyond comprehension why the producers would want to annihilate what started so beautifully with the soap opera excrement they've reduced it to since they ruined the beautiful romance of Robin and Marian's Love Story. This is not the legend of Robin Hood, it's all to do with the black-hearted villain who has outstayed his welcome longer than any other Gisborne in the 800 year legend. The only saving grace for this version is the wonderful young actor playing Robin, Jonas Armstrong and while he will go on to bigger and better things in his career, he and the show should have been remembered as the best telling of the legend ever. Shame on you Tiger Aspect and BBC for allowing this to happen

They both have their heads up their asses when it comes to JA. If it wasn't for Guy of Gisborne this show would have gone down the toilet ages ago.
And to say that Jonas will go on to bigger and better things, I doubt it.
Richard Armitage is already a lead in a respected Drama Spooks (MI5) So I think he has already moved on to the bigger and better things. Has Jonas, A clue no. Oh unless you count his straight to dvd movie debut...
I agree, without Richard Armitage as Guy of Gisborne there would be no show! The only reason I watch the show is because of the character Guy of Gisborne. The black-hearted villain that some clearly hate actually MAKES the show interesting.
If Jonas Armstrong was so great why would they replace him for the next season?
I also found Guy & Marian's relationship WAY more interesting than Robin & Marian's which was BORING.

Have to agree with other commments, without Richard Armitage and Keith Allen this would be just so much boring guff. These two are such good actors that they make it watchable and seem to spark something off in each other in their scenes together.
The chemistry between Guy and Marion was so much more believable than between Robin and Marion. If anything Marion seemed more like Robin's older sister and, given that Lucy is about 8 years younger than Jonas, this says a lot for her acting ability.
I also wondered at the identity of your first commenter - whoever it is is obviously in for a huge disappointment to find out that Robin and Guy are related.
At the very least this new 'Archer' character looks from his pictures to be at least a bit more grown up, I never did believe that Jonas was a credible 'war-weary crusader'.
Guy/Marian was the BOMB. It had passion which all the rest of the ships on this show lack.
Heard the old adage that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, have we, people? I'm here to advise I am neither Kittawatta or Lucky and while I'm not interested in engaging in any silly arguments there are two things I want to know.
1). would you really personally want to be married or even involved with somebody like Gisborne? Heaven help you if that's the kind of person you'd get yourself involved with.
2). Do you, or have you ever really and truly studied the legend of Robin Hood? It would seem you have not, nor do you know the first thing about the legend.
Disclaimer: I am talking about Gisborne, the evil character of Robin Hood, not about Richard Armitage, the actor who plays the role, learn to differentiate between the two. I fear for all of you if Gisborne is your ideal choice of life partner and wish you well, you will need it!
No I just think the show should and does use the legend of Robin Hood as a guideline and less as a strict tezt to follow piece by piece.
Going off stream with storylines and characters bring new life to an older story, filling it with surprises and twists around every turn.
Giving Gisborne redemption is going to be momentous for the show and the story as most people want to see a bad guy go good.
I think thats why Gisborne is so easy to relate to. He was the result of his situation and meeting Marian and falling for her slowly made him face some harsh realities.
I'm not sure if the other commenters were talking about which character they would personally prefer in real life, more like who they prefer watching on the telly but I'll answer your questions.
1) Probably not s1 Guy, but as a character on the show I'd rather watch him especially if he goes more and more toward the "light" which was the most interesting part of s2 for me. Maybe if he did end up changing his ways I would ;) This is fantasy after all, not reality.
2) The legend has never seemed to matter in this version so I don't know why it would matter if the viewers have studied it especially if the show is aimed at a younger audience.
Anyway, part of the reason Guy is so engaging is because he is played by RA who is a very good actor, miles above a lot of the other actors on the show. A pretty good reason a lot of people say he's their favourite character!
The "black hearted villain" that some claim has outstayed his welcome may well be the ONLY actual draw this series still has. He continues to mourn for the character of Marian, and has allowed his life to plummet. . Not so with Marian's "husband" a.k.a Mr. Kiss Me Quick. The "beautiful love story of R&M" made me cringe as I watched Marian's barely concealed distaste at kissing RH. JA is unfortunately out of his league and miscast - case in point the PTB really didn't try to convince him to stay past his original contract. I hope he is able to go on to "bigger and better things" - maybe sharing the screen with consummate actors like Toby Stephens and Richard Armitage will help him learn how. RA juggles 2 starring roles with aplomb. JA by his own admission, couldn't figure out how to do more than one thing at a time
As for the legend - RH returned to England a hardened man - not a boy. So the rest of the legend must be up to interpretation too...
okay i thought that yes we need the sherriff and Gisborne but come on the Robin+Marian relationship is classic! you could see that they loved each other!
and well this version may have de-railed but that is what is keeping you all watching and you know it!
Sorry, I am with the majority here: even though the Robin-Marian relationship is classic in the legend, in this show the only believable and engaging relationship was Guy and Marian. I am still watching this season... you guessed it, only because Richard Armitage's Guy is still in it. I actually skip to his scenes; granted, the other baddies are entertaining and Archer shows some promise, but Guy's story, messed up as it is, is the only part that keeps me watching. Part of this comes from him being smoking hot, and another part from RA being a seriously good actor that makes what could be a cardboard baddie into a compelling person with a multitude of shades of grey.
