There are only two episodes left of Sons of Anarchy's brilliant second season, and as has been the case all year, these last installments do not shirk on story advancement. We've gotten an early look at Tuesday's all-new hour, "The Culling," and it is so good—and so gratifying for us fans—that it will send you into fits.
Want to know what it looks like when our beloved Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original stops being polite and starts getting real? Here's what we can tell you...
1. If you're the kind of nerd (like us) who greatly enjoys mentally commingling the unique world of this NorCal motorcycle club with its quasi-medieval chivalric/romantic/epic source material, you will freaking love this episode. Symbolically speaking, in the aftermath of Gemma's (Katey Sagal) revelation about her gang rape, the club pulls up the gates, mans battle stations and puts the fortress on DEFCON 1-level war readiness. And let us tell you, SAMCRO on a war footing is a sexy, sexy thing.
2. Someone's secret is outed in a very public, very dire-for-them way.
3. Someone appears to be granted a long-desired wish.
4. Bitches get their comeuppance.
5. It's a huge ep for Henry Rollins, whose A.J. Weston unleashes even more of the virulent fury we've believed to be in him all along.
6. At the beginning of the year, it seemed that season two would be kind of a quiet year for Tara (Maggie Siff) as she became more comfortable with the club and her newfound relationship with Jax (Charlie Hunnam). Well, let's just say it's not a quiet year after all. As still waters run deep, it seems our girl Tara was making some significant life choices while appearing to sit quietly on the sidelines. We'll see those choices onscreen for the first time on Tuesday.
7. There's lots of kissing, between lots of people we like to see do that kind of thing and a few we don't.
8. Charming Police Chief Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie) is so completely simpatico with the club that we're starting to worry about him. How long can that guy play with fire and not get burned?
9. It seems like everything that came before "The Culling" was just practice, because when Tuesday rolls around and the newly reunified and revitalized members of the Redwood Original take on their enemies, the gang is on their game in a way we haven't seen in a long time. As they say, practice makes progress...
The Sons of Anarchy episode "The Culling" airs Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 10 p.m. on FX. Will you watch?
