MICKEY: Right now, the best I can promise you is that Dr. Crankypants will experience something of a thaw when it comes to Cuddy in next week's episode. There will still be scads of ice floes between them, but they'll look smaller, like in An Inconvenient Truth, except without all the dead polar bears and with Lucas.
Widmore, Ben, Locke, Jacob, Man in Black... will we ever find out who the good guys really are on Lost? — Lin
MICKEY: We asked Josh Holloway, who portrays Sawyer, one ethically complicated dude, what he thinks. "I think the whole beauty of this show and the intrigue has been the constant question of what is good and what is bad and what is right or wrong," he says. "That is the entire crux of the show, so no, you're never going to get a clear picture. You're going to be left with that question to answer for yourself." Next you'll be telling me the numbers are just... numbers!
Will Rachel and Finn ever get back together on Glee? — Benji

As a result, he and the writers are drafting a "relationship timeline" for the future couple. Yes, couple! Says Murphy: "We have a lot of conversations about 'When should they kiss again? When should they sleep together? Should they sleep together? Should they stay together?' We talk about that a lot." I'm hearing the spring episodes will make quick work of Terri and Will's separation, but that Emma's story line will be of the "be careful what you wish for" variety. Also: Before Rachel and Finn can walk off into the sunset, there's the small matter of Quinn's baby, who we'll also meet this spring.

So I can't wait for Thursday's episode, titled "Jacksonville," in which a natural disaster blurs the boundary between "over there" and "over here," giving us a revealing look at how things are fundamentally different between the two. Brace yourself for some icky (though fantastic) effects and think back to that guy stuck in the bank vault way back when.

It’s funny you should speak of minutes, because one thing to come out of the episode is the sad fact that ol’ Lucas is a “two-minute man” – and at the worst time, too. A few other tidbits from the very engaging, Lisa Edelstein-tastic hour: Cuddy has Isabel Allendes’ ‘Inés of My Soul’ on her nightstand; she starts her day off with yoga (and is very bendy); and she’s as obsessive with her Blackberry as I am with mine. “Huddy” fans, meanwhile, may enjoy Cuddy’s reaction to House getting a shirtless rubdown by a buxom blonde. One final note: The episode ends with a montage set to Mary Chapin Carpenter’s ‘Passionate Kisses,” which features the lyric, “I want a full house.” Clue? Discuss.

You really don’t want your boyfriend kissing this chick. So while it was a fun episode to do, Lois didn’t like it very much!”

There is at least one moment that will make you shriek out loud in tonight's two-hour Lost premiere, which is television at its very best. It is, as they say, a "game-changer."
So what else is in store for this groundbreaking series' final season? What about Walt? The Smoke Monster? Claire's relation to Jack? I just chatted up the entire cast and show masterminds Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, and without giving away anything too spoilery (what's the fun in that?), here's what you absolutely need to know…
Will We See the Man in Black Again? Smokey? Jacob? Find out in the video above in the fun little game of "False, True or Hell No, I Won't Tell You" that I played with some of the cast and producers. (I got much more scoop from them but it needs to hold til after the premiere so stand by for that.)
The Premiere Rocks. I'll say it again: Tonight's two-hour premiere is my favorite episode since Lost's groundbreaking pilot five years ago. The show is instantly broader and more meaningful than it was before. It's as if the fate of the whole world now depends on what is happening on this island…
There Will Be Answers. "Exactly 73 questions will be answered in the final season," boss Carlton Cuse tells me, and naturally, he's joking. "We're going to answer the questions that matter to our characters," Damon says in all seriousness. "If they care about it, then we're going to answer it. If it affects their lives, than we're going to deal with it."
There Will Be Family Matters. Urkel is guest starring! I keed. When asked if Claire (Emilie de Ravin) will find out Jack is her brother, Matthew Fox tells me, "Yes, I think you'll get an opportunity to see that." And here's my favorite tease from Michael Emerson (Ben) about the final season: "In the 13 episodes [we've shot so far], huge chucks of the puzzle have fallen into place. Some quite shocking, and some really satisfying. Some of those puzzle pieces answer whole families of questions. So the audience can have hope for resolution and satisfaction." When asked if he specifically chose the word "families" for a particular reason, Emerson says knowingly: "You know that nothing is accidental with Lost." Chills, meet spine.
What About Walt? Though Damon and Carlton say there are no current plans to bring Malcom David Kelley (Walt) back, his onscreen father is hopeful. "I'm hoping he's the next leader of the island," Harold Perrineau (Michael) tells me. "He starts it all over again. In 2012, Lost is back with Malcolm. He's 20 feet tall now and can kick my ass."
Sayid Might Be OK. His character was shot in the stomach when we last saw him, but as Naveen Andrews says in the clip above, "Lots of people have been in dire situations, right? And somehow, some way they pull through."
The Very End Will Satisfy Some of You. "The ending we promise you will be very emotional," Carlton explains. "That's what we think matters, what happens to the characters.
The Premiere Was Leaked. In case you didn't hear, the premiere episode was leaked on YouTube via fan videos taken at Sunday's Hawaii beach event, but here's the truly incredible thing: Very few of you have actually clicked to watch it (many vidoes received only a few hundred hits), recognizing that you didn't wait all this time to watch some lame shaky FlipCam version of this visually inspiring series. And that is why I heart you.
Just Wait Till You See Next Week's Episode. More on that in tonight's first Lost Redux (should be posted about 10 pm ET/7 pm PT), but I now know what's in store for next week and in all seriousness could not sleep last night thinking about all the ramifications of it. It will be an entirely different series with an entirely different framework after the end of next Tuesday's episode.
Why I'm Not Saying More Till You See It: As Daniel Dae Kim puts it, "Because people have waited so long for answers, and because they're coming out, it's probably best to be a little more tight-lipped than usual." Wise words from a guy I adore, so I'm heeding 'em.

But as for him being murdered, you may want to instead think of it as “assisted suicide.” Given how Jacob taunted Ben with that rude and dismissive “What about you?” line just moments before getting knifed, “He rather begs for his own death,” posits Michael Emerson. Hmm, could it have been the Man in White’s plan to die and in doing so present an even greater roadblock to “UnLocke”? “Jacob’s agenda is more complicated than we can know,” Emerson says. “It’s certainly not as simple as we thought.”

Megan in Toluca Lake: Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. The new Lost promo is insane. Will we really find out why they are on the Island? And what is up with Locke?
As you know, I just got back from the show's set in Oahu and I'll be hurling a whole slew of scoop at you tomorrow, plus posting the first Lost Redux tomorrow night. But in the meantime, can we just talk about the awesomeness that is Terry O'Quinn?
In the promo above, you see that Terry's character will most likely be the one to reveal what the Island is, and what the whole show has been about. Holy. Freaking. Goosebumps. When I was on the set in Hawaii, I saw quite a few scoopy reveals (and signed a confidentiality agreement to go along with it), but I was kindly escorted off set before they shot a big night scene with Matthew Fox and Terry. Terry talks about that very scene in the video clip above and adds: "It was four pages of the history of the Island." How awesome does that sound?
As you know by now, Terry is playing someone other than John Locke when the show returns tomorrow night. So who is he? Terry's clue (which almost caught the eye of producer Carlton Cuse—whoopsie!) will give confirmation to some of you, and get others of you thinking. It's not too spoilery, but it's fun and it's all in the video at top. Keep reading down below for a little more Lost scoop...

UnofficialME via Twitter: What's next for Joss Whedon now that Dollhouse is over? Any chance that we'll know his next project soon?
Unfortunately no, but Joss did give us a few hints right before he and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog were honored at last week's Producers Guild Awards. "Dr. Horrible turned from the little engine that could, to the little engine that destroyed Tokyo!," said the humbled show runner of the award. "For [producers] to honor it, and what we're continuing to try and accomplish on the Internet, means a great deal to me, because I see a lot of my future there. A lot of what I hope to accomplish in the next few years taking place there." Joss also confirmed that there won't be a Dollhouse comic. "We've done some comic books with Dr. Horrible, and it leads itself to it and it's really fun. Dollhouse really doesn't," he explained. "It's about people's personality change, which is very hard to draw. It isn't a comic book world. Dollhouse was Dollhouse, and now is next."
Corinne in Seattle: Could you tell Merlin fans that Syfy will air season two starting April 2 and will rerun the first season in March to catch up new fans of the show? I've seen the entire second season, and it is fantastic and much better than the first, and I can't wait until it comes to the U.S.
Thanks so much for the news, but I double-checked with Syfy and got back, "We cannot confirm Merlin." That doesn't mean that Syfy won't eventually confirm that they've picked up Merlin, but so far it remains unofficial. I hope this happens, though—that kid who plays Arthur is like Jesse Spencer with an English accent...and a sword.
David in Rhode Island: Will there be resolution about Claire and Jack? Will he find out they're related?
According to Matthew Fox, yes! He says the fans will be satisifed and that will not be left hanging.
Edward in New York: Will Ben Linus get any more honest this season?
According to Michael Emerson, no. "I have always meant to be forthright, it's just that sometimes you get in a pinch and your mission requires that you fudge the truth a ilttle and get things done!" That said, when you meet the new big bad you will see that Ben is a cowering puppy dog in comparison.
Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.: I'm not expecting a big makeout scene, but is there any hint of Olivia/Peter coming up in Fringe?
Ahem. Everybody must watch this week's Fringe (but especially you Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.) even if you've been wavering a bit on that series. Something that we've been waiting to see since the pilot finally (finally!) happens. The scenes in question are totally gratifying (albeit rushed a bit, when this subplot might have been better served with a little foreplay preamble), but then what we are given is snatched away again, in totally heartbreaking and perfect TV form. Excellent work, Bad Robots. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Montserrat in Glendale, Calif.: Please tell me this Cuddy-Lucas liaison is almost over on House. I can't stand it anymore!
OK, the bad news is that next Monday's House ep, "5 to 9," is Cuddy-centric and therefore riddled with Cuddy-Lucas PDA. Blech. On the other hand, the good news is that "5 to 9" is Cuddy-centric and therefore riddled with scenes that reveal House and Cuddy's genuine emotional and psychological intimacy, and that remind us fans why she loves that dude's deranged narcissistic ass in the first place. If you Huddy fans can just squint through the Cuddy-Lucas scenes, you'll find that when you come out the other side, the Huddy material is very rewarding.
Pete in Phoenix: Give me an update on House, stat!
Look for actor-comedian Orlando Jones to pop up in tonight's House, bringing along a few surprises for his brother, Foreman (Omar Epps). We checked into reports that Orlando will possibly be back on a full-time basis next year, but a House rep tells us that the writers don't yet know anything past this season. So for now, Foreman's big bro is only expected to show up once.
Cynthia in Merced, Calif.: I love that Renee is back on 24. Any chance she and Jack will find some real love this time around?
We'll let Annie Wersching (Renee) take this one: "I think fans will be pleased." Whoot! You heard it here first, folks, but it's not all romance for the two throughout 24's eighth season. "This day, they go through a lot of stuff again that brings them closer together. So they have their own interesting relationship," Annie explains. We're down for a badass Renee and Jack Bauer hookup anytime—even if she is supercreepy this year.
Abby in Wisconsin: Big Love is delightful this year. What's to come?
Ana (Branka Katic) is coming back! We'll see the Henricksons' fourth wife again on the Valentine's Day episode, and she comes with a "surprising revelation" that probably has something to do with the fact that she's engaged to be married—to someone else. Tramp!
Jessalyn in Butte, Neb.: I can't wait for next week's flashback episode of Vampire Diaries. Is anything revealing going to happen?
How does this sound? This week's The Vampire Diaries reveals one of the biggest secrets of all: What actually happened to make Damon and Stefan hate each other? "We get to see the incident that drove them apart for the first time," says show runner Julie Plec. Ooh, "the incident"? sounds a little Lostish! Also, we'll see Dexter's James Remar for the first time as Papa Salvatore. Let's just hope he lives by a very different code than Harry Morgan!

All right, but I feel the need to throw out another spoiler alert warning before revealing the following: The incident that tore Damon and Stefan apart involves their mutual love of a certain Elena look-alike vampire. Turns out, Stefan might inadvertently be the reason Katherine was locked up in the tomb, hence Damon's desire to free her, and his unexplained hatred of his little bro.
Lamar in Dahoga, Pa.: Can you tell us anything about Leverage? It's such an underrated series.
Luke Perry guest stars as a clairvoyant con man on this week's ep, and fans of the former heartthrob will not be disappointed. Most of Perry's scenes are with Jeri Ryan, and Luke just can't say enough about her. "Jeri Ryan and I had a great time. When you're the guest cast, you never really know how it'll be, but it was good," he tells us. Obviously it's Leverage, so they tend to catch the bad guy in the end, but might Luke be back again? Here's what he says: "I just sort of play it as it comes. But we may get together on something down the road." And there you have it.

As you know, I just got back from the show's set in Oahu and I'll be hurling a whole slew of scoop at you tomorrow, plus posting the first Lost Redux tomorrow night. But in the meantime, can we just talk about the awesomeness that is Terry O'Quinn?
In the promo above, you see that Terry's character will most likely be the one to reveal what the Island is, and what the whole show has been about. Holy. Freaking. Goosebumps. When I was on the set in Hawaii, I saw quite a few scoopy reveals (and signed a confidentiality agreement to go along with it), but I was kindly escorted off set before they shot a big night scene with Matthew Fox and Terry. Terry talks about that very scene in the video clip above and adds: "It was four pages of the history of the Island." How awesome does that sound?
As you know by now, Terry is playing someone other than John Locke when the show returns tomorrow night. So who is he? Terry's clue (which almost caught the eye of producer Carlton Cuse—whoopsie!) will give confirmation to some of you, and get others of you thinking. It's not too spoilery, but it's fun and it's all in the video at top. Keep reading down below for a little more Lost scoop...

Unfortunately no, but Joss did give us a few hints right before he and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog were honored at last week's Producers Guild Awards. "Dr. Horrible turned from the little engine that could, to the little engine that destroyed Tokyo!," said the humbled show runner of the award. "For [producers] to honor it, and what we're continuing to try and accomplish on the Internet, means a great deal to me, because I see a lot of my future there. A lot of what I hope to accomplish in the next few years taking place there." Joss also confirmed that there won't be a Dollhouse comic. "We've done some comic books with Dr. Horrible, and it leads itself to it and it's really fun. Dollhouse really doesn't," he explained. "It's about people's personality change, which is very hard to draw. It isn't a comic book world. Dollhouse was Dollhouse, and now is next."
Corinne in Seattle: Could you tell Merlin fans that Syfy will air season two starting April 2 and will rerun the first season in March to catch up new fans of the show? I've seen the entire second season, and it is fantastic and much better than the first, and I can't wait until it comes to the U.S.
Thanks so much for the news, but I double-checked with Syfy and got back, "We cannot confirm Merlin." That doesn't mean that Syfy won't eventually confirm that they've picked up Merlin, but so far it remains unofficial. I hope this happens, though—that kid who plays Arthur is like Jesse Spencer with an English accent...and a sword.
David in Rhode Island: Will there be resolution about Claire and Jack? Will he find out they're related?
According to Matthew Fox, yes! He says the fans will be satisifed and that will not be left hanging.
Edward in New York: Will Ben Linus get any more honest this season?
According to Michael Emerson, no. "I have always meant to be forthright, it's just that sometimes you get in a pinch and your mission requires that you fudge the truth a ilttle and get things done!" That said, when you meet the new big bad you will see that Ben is a cowering puppy dog in comparison.
Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.: I'm not expecting a big makeout scene, but is there any hint of Olivia/Peter coming up in Fringe?
Ahem. Everybody must watch this week's Fringe (but especially you Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.) even if you've been wavering a bit on that series. Something that we've been waiting to see since the pilot finally (finally!) happens. The scenes in question are totally gratifying (albeit rushed a bit, when this subplot might have been better served with a little foreplay preamble), but then what we are given is snatched away again, in totally heartbreaking and perfect TV form. Excellent work, Bad Robots. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Montserrat in Glendale, Calif.: Please tell me this Cuddy-Lucas liaison is almost over on House. I can't stand it anymore!
OK, the bad news is that next Monday's House ep, "5 to 9," is Cuddy-centric and therefore riddled with Cuddy-Lucas PDA. Blech. On the other hand, the good news is that "5 to 9" is Cuddy-centric and therefore riddled with scenes that reveal House and Cuddy's genuine emotional and psychological intimacy, and that remind us fans why she loves that dude's deranged narcissistic ass in the first place. If you Huddy fans can just squint through the Cuddy-Lucas scenes, you'll find that when you come out the other side, the Huddy material is very rewarding.
Pete in Phoenix: Give me an update on House, stat!
Look for actor-comedian Orlando Jones to pop up in tonight's House, bringing along a few surprises for his brother, Foreman (Omar Epps). We checked into reports that Orlando will possibly be back on a full-time basis next year, but a House rep tells us that the writers don't yet know anything past this season. So for now, Foreman's big bro is only expected to show up once.
Cynthia in Merced, Calif.: I love that Renee is back on 24. Any chance she and Jack will find some real love this time around?
We'll let Annie Wersching (Renee) take this one: "I think fans will be pleased." Whoot! You heard it here first, folks, but it's not all romance for the two throughout 24's eighth season. "This day, they go through a lot of stuff again that brings them closer together. So they have their own interesting relationship," Annie explains. We're down for a badass Renee and Jack Bauer hookup anytime—even if she is supercreepy this year.

How does this sound? This week's The Vampire Diaries reveals one of the biggest secrets of all: What actually happened to make Damon and Stefan hate each other? Also, we'll see Dexter's James Remar for the first time as Papa Salvatore. Let's just hope he lives by a very different code than Harry Morgan!

All right, but I feel the need to throw out another spoiler alert warning before revealing the following: The incident that tore Damon and Stefan apart involves their mutual love of a certain Elena look-alike vampire. Turns out, Stefan might inadvertently be the reason Katherine was locked up in the tomb, hence Damon's desire to free her, and his unexplained hatred of his little bro.

Recently killed-off Heroes cast member Dawn Olivieri has found new life — as a werewolf on True Blood.
Heroes: Will Lydia's death spell disaster for Samuel?
Olivieri will play Janice Herveaux, the sister of werewolf Alcide (Joe Manganiello), the actress' rep confirms to TVGuide.com.
Herveaux is described as a tough-as-nails biker chick who's somewhat protective of her younger brother. She is also into horoscopes and psychics.
Olivieri will first appear in Season 3's fourth episode, "9 Crimes." She also auditioned for the role of Debbie Pelt, Alcide's ex-girlfriend. Casting for that role has yet to be announced.

Naturally, Dawn Olivieri was bummed when she found out Lydia, her character on Heroes, was being killed off.
But she also saw the bright side: Lydia's death could blow the lid off twisted carnival leader Samuel's master plan.
"My death was a chance for the audience to see just how far he's willing to go," Olivieri tells TVGuide.com. Lydia — a tattooed empath who can see into any person's soul — was the second member of the carnival to fall victim to Samuel (Robert Knepper), who earlier in the season killed his own brother and set forth with his egomaniacal plot.
This time around, Samuel had one of his henchman open fire on the carnival while telling his "family" that they were under attack from the outside world. Lydia was caught in the crossfire, but played perfectly into Samuel's hands. His hope that the hysteria would eventually help him regain control and the trust of his people seemed to work, but Olivieri says Samuel won't be able to sustain the lie.
"He's pushing it, and he's getting really close to the fire with all the things he's doing," she says. "I think the closer he gets, the more extreme his actions have to be, and eventually that just all implodes on itself. He's sinking cities, and he's killing the people that are close to him. It becomes too much eventually; it's catching up with him."
The most likely candidate to play spoiler to Samuel's schemes: Claire (Hayden Panettiere), who returned to the carnival just before Lydia was gunned down. Although Lydia didn't get a chance to tell Claire everything she knew, Olivieri says the indestructible cheerleader will spring into action.
"I think Lydia gave Claire the insight that the carnival wasn't this roving band of lunatics," Olivieri says. "She was able to convey to Claire what it really meant to the people that were there and that they wanted help. Samuel is not on their side. If anything, that gives Claire incentive to get her father [Jack Coleman] to help."
Even though Lydia's dead, Olivieri knows the secrets that lie ahead in the finale. Of course, she's not talking, but she says fans will be pleased with the finale. "We know how these things work," she says. "Somebody's got to figure something out. The writers did a good job on the ending. There's a few twists that you don't see coming that I personally loved, and it made me crazy to know what happens next."
Heroes' penultimate Season 4 episode airs Monday at 9/8c on NBC.

LOST Scoop!
Before we go any further, let's make one thing clear: the polar bears maybe aren't that big a deal. That's just one of the hints Lost executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof dropped about the sixth and final season of the show when we interviewed them at the show's Hawaii premiere party. They also told us a bit about the Man in Black, promised to explain the Smoke Monster, and told us who's really dead.
TVGuide.com: The show raises a lot of questions, but is there anything that fans have focused on that you never intended to be a big deal?
Cuse: The polar bears. We sort of felt like we explained the polar bears. We saw polar bear cages. We saw Sawyer locked in a polar bear cage. But people were still like, "What's up with those polar bears?" That seems to be kind of an obsession. Libby has also been an obsession.
Lindelof: The new obsession is basically, "How many questions are you guys going to answer?" And people are asking us that like Carlton and I are gonna go, "87. We're just not going to tell you which ones." Or, "What percentage of the mysteries are you going to answer?" But that doesn't take into account the fact that some people consider some things mysteries that other people don't consider mysteries at all or don't care about. So we basically say, every mystery that is relevant to the characters on [Flight] 815, if they don't care about it, then it's probably not going to be answered. So if it's relevant to them or they're asking a question, then it's something that we're going to deal with. But that's the story that we're telling.
TVGuide.com: Is the reset going to be a theme of this season or are you playing with the audience?
Cuse: I think it wouldn't be Lost if we weren't playing with the audience a little bit, but by the end of the premiere, you'll have a sense of what we're doing. We're still doing the same thing we've always done on the show, which is island storytelling and off-island storytelling. It just now starts to take on a different form in the final season. Like every season, each season is a distinct entity, so by the end of the premiere, you should have a sense of what Season 6 is shaping up to be like.
TVGuide.com: Michael Emerson said instead of storylines coming together, the threads keep spreading out. Do you feel like everything will come together at the end or will it keep spreading?
Cuse: I'm not sure I agree with Michael. He might have been toying with you, because we do feel like there's a certain circularity to the show. In the same way that the show started, we're going to come back around to some of the main characters from the first season of the show. To us, the most important thing is, what are these character's destinies? What are their fates? What's going to happen to them? Those are the questions we're really interested in answering. Along the way, we're going to tackle some of the mythological biggies, like what's the smoke monster? You'll learn more about the nature of the island. You'll learn more about Jacob and the Man in Black. Those are the things we feel are important as opposed to what kind of research was the Dharma Initiative doing on polar bears.
TVGuide.com: Will there be more on the numbers or will that never really be answered?
Cuse: There is definitely more about the numbers in Season 6. I think it will be an individual decision as to whether you'll walk away satisfied by the answer because there's a fundamental conundrum where any question begets another question. It's the Big Bang conundrum. The universe started with the Big Bang, but once you accept that you ask what came before the Big Bang. So at a certain point you can't definitively answer a question in a way that doesn't lead to other questions. Everyone is going to have to find their comfort level with the show.
TVGuide.com: Will the final season be no holds barred? Can anyone die?
Cuse: The mantra of the final season in a certain way is, "Anything can happen, be prepared." We are nearing the end, so if there are any constraints that govern a series, they really go away in the final season. We always felt like Lost was at its best when it was really surprising. We did things that were unexpected. We do have a few surprises up our sleeves for this season, which we think are really exciting.
TVGuide.com: You already know who is going to die in the end?
Cuse: Yes, we have our game plan for how the season will end. Significant discisions like that have definitely been resolved by now. We're still writing the scripts, but we, ourselves, know the fates of the characters.
TVGuide.com: What can you say of the Man in Black?
Cuse: People who are curious about the Man in Black will get more answers this season for sure. We recognize that that character is mysterious and cryptic and we promise that we will give you more details about who he is.
TVGuide.com: Is Jacob really dead?
Cuse: Is Jacob really dead? Yeah, I mean we've always said that when characters die on Lost they die. He was stabbed, he was dead. Of course, dead characters show up in other incarnations. We have a narrative structure of our show which allows us to have our cake and eat it too. Just because you're dead doesn't mean we don't see you on the show, but was Jacob killed by Ben? The answer is yes.
TVGuide.com: Yes, and Harold Perrineau is among those who's back despite being dead.
Cuse: Yeah, and he's back on the show this year, so you'll see Harold on the show and that's really exciting for us, but he did die on the freighter.
TVGuide.com: Is Kate going to end up with Jack or Sawyer or end up alone?
Cuse: Well, we know what's going to happen to her, but we're not going to tip what's happening to her. But we definitely know what the resolutions of the characters are and we know that people care a lot about the Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Juliet quadrangle and that will be something that you'll definitely get some resolution on this season.
Lindelof: And I think it's great that you actually present that Kate might end up alone as an option, because a lot of people say, "Is it going to be Jack or is it going to be Sawyer?" But that presupposes way too many things that they're not fully aware of in the final season. So there may be a couple of other options that are in play that people aren't considering yet.
TVGuide.com: Are we going to learn more about why Richard doesn't age?
Cuse: Yes you will. You will definitely learn more about Richard Alpert this season. Now, whether it's enough for you to be satisfied, that'll be up to you. But we're definitely going to explain more about him.
Lindelof: We've been coming up against what we call the chicken and the egg conundrum, which is every time we answer a question, there's two questions left in its wake. So we have to decide where we draw the line. So if the question is, "Are we going to learn more about Richard? Are we going to see his origin story?", the answer is, we would be remiss if we were not to present that. But if we were to say, "Are we going to definitively answer all these mysteries regarding Richard?", it's literally impossible to do.
TVGuide.com: Are there teams supporting Jacob and the Man in Black? And what should we call that guy?
Cuse: The Man in Black.
TVGuide.com: Are there teams? Are there people that are going to take sides this season?
Cuse: People are going to take sides, but that doesn't mean they're not going to switch sides later on. It's a little bit like baseball pre-season. You're on a team, but there's a lot of trading going on.
Lindelof: I think one thing to keep in mind though is that just because one guy wears white and the other guy wears black, don't make immediate judgments over who's good and who's evil. Jacob has kind of put our guys through the wringer in a lot of ways, so it might be interesting to see what the Man in Black has to say for himself.
Cuse: He might have a good perspective.

Cuse: I'm not sure I agree with Michael. He might have been toying with you, because we do feel like there's a certain circularity to the show. In the same way that the show started, we're going to come back around to some of the main characters from the first season of the show. To us, the most important thing is, what are these character's destinies? What are their fates? What's going to happen to them? Those are the questions we're really interested in answering. Along the way, we're going to tackle some of the mythological biggies, like what's the smoke monster? You'll learn more about the nature of the island. You'll learn more about Jacob and the Man in Black. Those are the things we feel are important as opposed to what kind of research was the Dharma Initiative doing on polar bears.
TVGuide.com: Will there be more on the numbers or will that never really be answered?
Cuse: There is definitely more about the numbers in Season 6. I think it will be an individual decision as to whether you'll walk away satisfied by the answer because there's a fundamental conundrum where any question begets another question. It's the Big Bang conundrum. The universe started with the Big Bang, but once you accept that you ask what came before the Big Bang. So at a certain point you can't definitively answer a question in a way that doesn't lead to other questions. Everyone is going to have to find their comfort level with the show.
TVGuide.com: Will the final season be no holds barred? Can anyone die?
Cuse: The mantra of the final season in a certain way is, "Anything can happen, be prepared." We are nearing the end, so if there are any constraints that govern a series, they really go away in the final season. We always felt like Lost was at its best when it was really surprising. We did things that were unexpected. We do have a few surprises up our sleeves for this season, which we think are really exciting.
TVGuide.com: You already know who is going to die in the end?
Cuse: Yes, we have our game plan for how the season will end. Significant discisions like that have definitely been resolved by now. We're still writing the scripts, but we, ourselves, know the fates of the characters.
TVGuide.com: What can you say of the Man in Black?
Cuse: People who are curious about the Man in Black will get more answers this season for sure. We recognize that that character is mysterious and cryptic and we promise that we will give you more details about who he is.
TVGuide.com: Is Jacob really dead?
Cuse: Is Jacob really dead? Yeah, I mean we've always said that when characters die on Lost they die. He was stabbed, he was dead. Of course, dead characters show up in other incarnations. We have a narrative structure of our show which allows us to have our cake and eat it too. Just because you're dead doesn't mean we don't see you on the show, but was Jacob killed by Ben? The answer is yes.
TVGuide.com: Yes, and Harold Perrineau is among those who's back despite being dead.
Cuse: Yeah, and he's back on the show this year, so you'll see Harold on the show and that's really exciting for us, but he did die on the freighter.
TVGuide.com: Is Kate going to end up with Jack or Sawyer or end up alone?
Cuse: Well, we know what's going to happen to her, but we're not going to tip what's happening to her. But we definitely know what the resolutions of the characters are and we know that people care a lot about the Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Juliet quadrangle and that will be something that you'll definitely get some resolution on this season.
Lindelof: And I think it's great that you actually present that Kate might end up alone as an option, because a lot of people say, "Is it going to be Jack or is it going to be Sawyer?" But that presupposes way too many things that they're not fully aware of in the final season. So there may be a couple of other options that are in play that people aren't considering yet.
TVGuide.com: Are we going to learn more about why Richard doesn't age?
Cuse: Yes you will. You will definitely learn more about Richard Alpert this season. Now, whether it's enough for you to be satisfied, that'll be up to you. But we're definitely going to explain more about him.
Lindelof: We've been coming up against what we call the chicken and the egg conundrum, which is every time we answer a question, there's two questions left in its wake. So we have to decide where we draw the line. So if the question is, "Are we going to learn more about Richard? Are we going to see his origin story?", the answer is, we would be remiss if we were not to present that. But if we were to say, "Are we going to definitively answer all these mysteries regarding Richard?", it's literally impossible to do.
TVGuide.com: Are there teams supporting Jacob and the Man in Black? And what should we call that guy?
Cuse: The Man in Black.
TVGuide.com: Are there teams? Are there people that are going to take sides this season?
Cuse: People are going to take sides, but that doesn't mean they're not going to switch sides later on. It's a little bit like baseball pre-season. You're on a team, but there's a lot of trading going on.
Lindelof: I think one thing to keep in mind though is that just because one guy wears white and the other guy wears black, don't make immediate judgments over who's good and who's evil. Jacob has kind of put our guys through the wringer in a lot of ways, so it might be interesting to see what the Man in Black has to say for himself.
Cuse: He might have a good perspective.
